One of my promises this year was to see more of the United Kingdom. We’ve been on three trips since we moving to England including a road trip to Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool and York in 2008; a trip to the Isle of Wight in March 2010; and the lovely week we spent in Scotland in September 2010. We’ve also taken smaller breaks to Oxford, Liverpool and Manchester. We’ve never been disappointed on any of our local trips and the more I learn about this magical kingdom, the more I love it.
Fairy Glen in Spring Betws y Coed Snowdonia Wales uploaded by Mark Sunderland at Flickr
We’ve just booked a four-night break with my father and step-mum at the Stables Lodge in Betws-y-coed. Pronounced something like “bettus-uh-coh-ed”, Betws-y-Coed lies in the Snowdonia National Park in Conwy, north Wales. It looks absolutely incredible and I simply cannot wait to get out into nature again. Hopefully my father will be up for gruelling 5-hour hikes each day (just kidding, Dad!). Betws-y-Coed means “prayer house in the wood” in Welsh and I was so glad to note that Welsh is one of the languages on Google Translate!
We were sent this Visit Conwy video along with our booking confirmation. Enjoy.
